Cafe Mangii - The 3 Course Meal Delight

Cafe Mangii Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
I've realized after so much eating out that places that we just stumble upon or randomly walk into are the ones that take us by surprise and satiate our quest for good food. Cafe Mangii at Orion gave my friends and me one such amazing experience. On a rainy Diwali afternoon three of us walked into Cafe Mangii with the hope of grabbing some quick bites and getting on the move.

But instead, we saw a small thing on the table that said 2 course meal for Rs.399/- and three course meal for Rs.499/- and we stuck ourselves there.

The ambiance was perfect. It was an open air environment with an amazing view of the Brigade Promenade. It was raining and breezy that afternoon and it was just a pleasure for us to sit there and dine. There was water in the premises because of the rain which needed some cleaning up.

The staff was prompt and served the food quite fast.

To give our lunch an amazing start we were served with a bread basket. The best part was eating the fluffy bread with the amazing side of salted/spiced butter.

We decided on ordering the three course meals each with a different combination of food.

Salad : We ordered the Peached Pear Salad(Pieces of pear tossed with walnut and some leaves, my friend wasn't too impressed with it), the Greek Salad and the classic Caesar Salad (Mine,The best one of the lot because of the cheese, olives and croutons)

Appetizer : Jalapeno and Cheddar Poppers (similar to the South Indian Masala Vada but only more cheesy and exotic) and Buffalo Wings (An amazing version of Chicken wings that was coated with spicy and tangy sauce. Perfect!)

Main : Barbecue Chicken Pizza and Peri Peri Chicken Pizza-Since the pizzas were to be a part of a combo we conveniently assumed that the size of the pizza would be as small as our palm. But we were SO wrong. The pizzas were full sized thin-crusted wood fire. Both of them were beyond delicious with the most generous toppings of chicken on them. The thin-crusted beauties were topped with a lot of veggies as well.

Spaghetti Ala-Bolognaise Chicken : My friend who isn't much of a stickler for spaghetti loved this dish. The spaghetti was freshly made and non-sticky. There was a good amount of chicken in it. This dish was presented really well with spaghetti rolled neatly into a lump topped with a basil.

Mocktail : We ordered 3 mocktails to go with our food. Strawberry and Guava Cooler (More on the lines of a healthy smoothie this drink had prominent flavours of strawberry and guava much to our delight) , She is A Peach (A rich peach flavoured cooler) and November Breeze ( A refreshing drink whose flavour or taste I do not remember).

A 3 course meal is definitely TOO much for someone with an average appetite. We literally had to take multiple breaks in the middle to avoid wasting ANY of the food. Almost everything we ordered made our taste buds happy!
We had an extremely satisfying meal and went out with super full tummies. (You will literally "burst" with happiness)

I would suggest this place mainly because of the Value For Money factor. Their prices do complete justice to the quality and quantity of food served.

Super impressed!

Travel Post #5 : 10 BALINESE DELIGHTS TO STIMULATE YOUR TASTE BUDS

Bali is an Indonesian island known for its pristine beaches , beautiful temples and street food. There are a host of Indonesian delicacies that one would come across while walking along any road in this beautiful island. The food they serve in these small eateries ( “Warungs”) looks tempting and is too difficult to resist. Since the Indonesian Rupaiah runs in lakhs don’t be surprised if you are asked to pay up two lakh rupees for a simple dish. On my recent trip to Bali I ended up gorging on authentic Balinese/Indonesian cuisine ; right from street vendors to fancy hotels. The best part is they customize their non-veg dishes to suit the vegetarian palate too. Here are a few items that I devoured on the trip and absolutely loved. 1) Bakso This is a traditional Indonesian delicacy and one of the most popular ones. You will find plenty of street vendors selling Bakso along the streets of Bali. It is an eclectic mix of  tangy, spicy soup, meat balls, wontons, tofu and noodles. The

Soya Chunks Broccoli Curry | Soya Chunks Curry Recipe | Indian Recipe

Soya Chunks  Broccoli Curry  | Soya Chunks Curry Recipe | Indian Recipe I attribute my varied palate to my Appa and Amma and no one else. Although South-Indian, growing up I was exposed to so many cuisines and I am not talking about, "just in restaurants". I am talking about "in Amma's kitchen". She wasn't just the Idli-Dosa kinda mom. She always ensured that she cooked up a different storm in the kitchen everyday and for that, I cannot be more thankful. Way before this whole "vegan" thing came into existence, she introduced me to Soya Chunks. We did eat non-veg at home but not everyday. That's when the humble Soya Chunks/ Soya Nuggets come to the rescue. The texture and taste (according to me) are nothing when compared to chicken but there is something about these nuggets that strike a chord with my palate.  Soya chunks especially when cooked in a curry form absorb water and spices. You take one bite and you realize ho
