Food Lovers Paradise

Well well well Indians are suppose to be the biggest foodies you can find. And the UAE is a treat for food lovers. There is a wide variety of options to choose from for people from any continent. There is not a single type of cuisine that Dubai DOESN'T cater to. You will find atleat 10 restaurants in one street alone which include Indian,Lebanese,French and so on.There are many  cafés and  pâtisseries along every street there. Talking about the local Arab cuisine,it is lip-smacking,thoroughly delicious. My favourite dish happens to be Shawarma which is meat( preferably chicken) rolled in pita bread and then there is  Za'atar , a blend of herbs, sesame and salt best eaten with Kubus( Arabic bread). From what I've observed Arabs love CHICKEN.anytime.anywhere. For vegetarians Falafel works as an amazing starter. It  is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas and/or fava beans. Its crispy on the outside and something you would love to much on. The best p

The Mall Culture Of Dubai

Dubai with its multiple high rise buildings is also home to several malls. All malls in Dubai have pretty much the same outlets but the expanse of the malls took me by surprise.Being an Indian the concept of a mall for me just meant a symmetrical building which houses several outlets that give provide ladies with their much required doze of retail therapy, food kiosks, few recreational activities to keep the kids busy and also the cinemas. But when I entered the malls in Dubai I was mesmerized by how different and rather unusual they looked. It was like entering a different world all together. The architectural magnificence of the structures, the number of stores, the type of shops, the various kinds of entertainment modes available, the kind of food, the myriad of people EVERYTHING absolutely everything was stunning beyond words. For a person with no stamina and no appetite for window shopping(or even actual shopping) any mall in Dubai would be a big no-no.But for someone like me who is willi

Dubai-My Take

Well to start with: My recent trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi  happened to be one of the best vacations of my life. Dubai is so gorgeous and full of life and also I was hosted by my extremely warm and friendly relatives (including uncle, aunt and little cousin and also another cousin and his wife). We chose the perfect time to head to Dubai the reason being  i) Amazing weather and and hence lots of tourists and ii) the   DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL   We left Bengaluru on 30th Dec 2011 by a 7:00 pm flight and landed in Dubai at around 9:30 pm (UAE time). Our entry wasn't smooth since we had to wait in the long queue for the iris scan and later the passport stamping. But I would say it was all worth it. The airport was full of tired passengers but none of them seemed to reflect that on their faces. After all they were in DUBAI and that too for NEW YEAR'S EVE. Everyone , I'm assuming was gung-ho about welcoming the year 2012 in the best city of the UAE. The time I spent there
